Tom Rhatican, assistant deputy secretary

Tom Rhatican serves as the Department of Transportation's Assistant Deputy Secretary. In this role, he oversees and manages legislative activities/relationships for the department, including providing testimony at legislative and public hearings.
Tom previously served as an administrator at the Department of Veterans Affairs and held a number of other leadership positions at DVA and as a legislative chief of staff. He is an attorney with experience in private law practice. Tom is a U.S. Army veteran with over 30 years of service in active duty, Guard and Reserves and recently retired from the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of Colonel.
He is a graduate of Boston University, the U.S. Army War College and UWľMadison Law School.
Tom lives in Madison with his wife, Linda. They have five children.
