Partnering for Employment Workshops focus on connections

WisDOT and the Wisconsin Transportation Builders Association are again teaming to offer two sessions of the Partnering for Employment in Highway Construction Workshop in 2008:

  • The first event will be held on Thursday, February 21 at the College of Menominee Nation in Keshena with much of the focus on the US 41 expansion projects in Winnebago and Brown counties.
  • The second workshop will take place on Thursday, February 28 at the Country Springs Hotel in Waukesha, with emphasis on the I-94 North-South Corridor project and the Zoo Interchange study. This workshop will also feature a graduation ceremony for the latest Transportation Alliance for New Solutions (TrANS) worker training class.

The Partnering for Employment Workshop theme for this year is "Paving the Future on a Foundation of Diversity." Each event will review opportunities and challenges to developing and maintaining a strong and diverse labor force in highway construction. The conferences will include a morning workshop with presentations from WisDOT, FHWA and contractors focusing on equal opportunity and civil rights issues. In the afternoon, contractors will be able to meet M-TrANS graduates and other prospective employees in speed-networking sessions.

Any contractors currently registered in the Civil Rights Compliance System should have received information and registration materials for the workshops via e-mail in mid-January. If you have not received materials or need additional information, contact Liz Johnson of WisDOT at (608) 261-0131.
