Coordination on I-94 Freeway Project is key... During the Marquette Interchange project, Deputy Secretary Ruben Anthony formed a committee to coordinate information and concerns relating to the project linking public involvement specialists, DBE experts, and the project team leads. This was to ensure that details such as construction schedules, utility right-of-way, and real estate information received a coordinated outreach effort between the community and the project. The committee for the Marquette Interchange had six packages to coordinate. With over 200 anticipated for I-94 NS Project, Deputy Secretary Ruben Anthony wants an even stronger focal point on the complex communication and community interest across the 35 miles of the I-94 project. Consequently, two DBE/PI/Project Coordination Teams were developed to match the model created during the Marquette Interchange Project. A northern group focused on the greater Mitchell Interchange area in Milwaukee County and the second for the southern project efforts located in Racine and Kenosha Counties. Monthly meetings will be held to share information, answer questions about schedules, impacts, and changes, and to share community interest in the project. Members will garner information on upcoming WisDOT bids, DBE and labor opportunities, business networking opportunities, and attaining overall project involvement. |
