Recovery symbolEconomic Recovery Funds Provide Statewide Opportunities

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is providing Wisconsin with many opportunities to create jobs, address challenges, and bring the nation back to economic health. The Act includes provisions to make unprecedented investments in Wisconsin's transportation infrastructure. These investments bring opportunities for businesses and workers throughout Wisconsin, including Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) firms. (more...)


NADBE's Have Resource for Promoting Their Businesses

Native American DBEs in construction and trades in Wisconsin can now get help developing a business profile to communicate key information about their businesses to prime contractors. The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin (AICCW) has created a standardized template that businesses can use to create their own business profile. According to AICCW Executive Director Craig Anderson, the goal is to bring visibility and credibility to NADBE construction and trade businesses. (more...)


US 41 Project: Construction outlook for 2009

The US 41 Project will expand and improve 31 miles of freeway in Brown and Winnebago counties. This year significant work begins in Winnebago County where WisDOT will launch an aggressive construction schedule that will run through 2016.  (more...)

Coordination on I-94 Freeway Project is key...

During the Marquette Interchange project, Deputy Secretary Ruben Anthony formed a committee to coordinate information and concerns relating to the project linking public involvement specialists, DBE experts, and the project team leads. (more...)


I-94 contractor workshop a success

Attending the I-94 North-South Freeway Project's contractor workshop on March 19 in Bristol were approximately 150 contractors and 88 firms. This venue provided an opportunity for contractors to hear more about the project and network with other primes and subcontractors through a "meet and greet" receiving line. (more...)


Transportation Alliance for New Solutions (TrANS)

The Transportation Alliance for New Solutions (TrANS) is a public-private model for collaboration and success in preparing the under-employed with skills needed to gain access to the road-building industry as laborers and apprentices. TrANS demonstrates how the public and private sectors can work together to address the outreach, preparation, placement and retention of women, minorities and others in skilled highway trades.
