US 41 Project: Construction outlook for 2009

The US 41 Project will expand and improve 31 miles of freeway in Brown and Winnebago counties. This year, significant work begins in Winnebago County where WisDOT will launch an aggressive construction schedule that will run through 2016.

One project for water retention ponds in Brown County was part of the March letting schedule. However, numerous other projects will soon be available for bid, with the majority in Winnebago County. Included is a brief summary of upcoming opportunities, with project ID, month of let, project description, and DBE goal, if determined:

  1. #1120-11-71: May let: Witzel Overpass/Washburn Street: DBE goal 7%
  • Construction of new grade structure across US 41 from Fountain Avenue to Snell Road.
  1. #1120-11-72: May let: Fountain/Snell Road Overpass: DBE goal 10%
  • Construction of new grade structure across US 41 from Fountain Avenue to Snell Road.
  1. #1120-11-73: May let: US 45/Fernau/Lake Butte des Morts Drive Roundabout: DBE goal 12%
  • Construction of multi-lane roundabout on US 45 at the intersection of Fernau Avenue and Lake Butte des Morts Drive.
  1. #1120-11-74: June let: US 41 Grading and Lake Butte des Morts Drive Overpass: DBE goal 10%
  • Grading US 41 southbound into Lake Butte des Morts; construction of Lake Butte des Morts Drive structure over US 41; and grading in US 41/45 Interchange.
  1. #9202-07-77: June let: Brown County Razing and Removing: DBE goal 20%
  • Razing and removing buildings in preparation for US 41 work.
  1. #1120-11-79: June let: Winnebago Couny Razing and Removing: DBE goal 20%
  • Razing and removing buildings in preparation for US 41 work.
  1. #1120-09-73: June let: US 41/114 Ramp Terminal Improvements: DBE goal being studied.
  • Construction of dual left-turn lanes at exit ramp terminals.
  1. #1120-10-76: June let: WIS 26 NB/SB Crash Investigation Sites: DBE goal being studied.
  • Construction of crash investigation sites on exit ramps of US 41/WIS 26 interchange.
  1. #1120-10-75: July let: Dual Left Turn Lanes US 41/WIS 44: DBE goal 12%
  • Construction of dual lane lefts at exit ramp terminals and spot concrete repair on WIS 44 between the ramps.
  1. #1120-09-82: July let: Wetland Mitigation Site west US 41, south of WIS 76: DBE goal 13%
  • Construction of wetland mitigation site for the US 41 project.
  1. #1120-11-80: December let: Washburn Street Sidewalk: DBE goal 18%
  • Construction of sidewalk
  1. #1120-11-81: December let: Washburn Street Lighting: DBE goal 12%
  • Installation of lighting
  1. #1120-09-75: December let: WIS 76 NB/SB Crash Investigation Sites: DBE goal being studied.
  • Construction of crash investigation sites on exit ramps of US 41/WIS 76 interchange.
