The American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin (AICCW) and the American Indian Construction and Trades Association (AICTA) have teamed up to offer a business safety program and OSHA 10-hour training to Native American DBEs. The training will help NADBEs prepare to meet and exceed objectives, goals and responsibilities related to OCIP safety guidance. (more...) SE Freeway Milwaukee County Urban DBE Advisory Committee To continue on the path of investing in the people of Wisconsin, WisDOT is involving the community stakeholders within Milwaukee County through a combined Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) advisory effort for the I-94 North-South Project and Zoo Interchange Study. Through this effort, community stakeholders can participate and become engaged in WisDOT's transportation process and focus on the goal of increasing DBE participation and labor opportunities for minorities and women. (more...) US 41 Project Contractors' Conference Over 500,000 tons of asphalt; nearly three million square yards of concrete pavement; four million tons of crushed rock. Those are some of the quantities of materials that will be used on the US 41 Project in Brown and Winnebago Counties in the next five to seven years, which will be a gargantuan undertaking by road construction contractors and subcontractors in the area. Electronic payroll training All prime and subcontractors on contracts let using American Recovery and Reinvetment Act funds are required to use the Civil Rights Compliance System (CRCS) to submit payrolls and employment information. The Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) option in CRCS must be used to submit all employee information for the project; you may additionally need to enter employment information for employees not subject to prevailing wage requirements. Zoo Interchange
public hearings scheduled The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is reaching the final phase of the Zoo Interchange Corridor study.We appreciate all the community input we've received in helping us develop and refine alternatives that meet the needs and expectations of the community and the traveling public. The study team has worked to create plans and designs to safely manage traffic from 70th Street on the east to 124th Street on the west, Lincoln Avenue on the south to Burleigh Street on the north. Storm water retention pond success A Rhinelander-based prime contractor is helping make huge strides in the US 41 Project DBE effort. In March, Musson Bros., Inc was awarded the contract for a project to build a storm water retention pond at County EE and County G in De Pere. While the DBE goal for the project was set at 14%, Musson committed to 54%. (more...) |
