The study team is examining a variety of reconstruction concepts in two major categories: conduct spot improvements in specific locations and implement a full freeway modernization. In addition, WisDOT is studying a "replace-in-kind" alternative. The public is encouraged to attend the public information meetings where these concepts will be on display, and study personnel will be available to answer questions and receive input:

No decisions have been made regarding the ultimate design or scope of the Zoo Interchange reconstruction. WisDOT expects that construction could begin on the interchange in 2012.

Through the end of March 2008, WisDOT had contracted for about $10.1 million in consultant work on the Zoo Interchange for data collection and the environmental study. A total of thirteen DBE firms had earned about 22% of these contract commitments.
