Freight Summit

Under the leadership of Governor Scott Walker, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is continuing the Freight Friendly Wisconsin Initiative to help move Wisconsin’s economy forward safely and efficiently.

Overall goals of the initiative include:

  • Increasing freight system efficiency and resiliency for operators;
  • Enhancing the overall safety and security of the freight transportation system; and
  • Streamlining regulatory processes and bureaucracy.

A broad range of industry leaders attended the November 2012 Freight Summit which featured interactive discussions on issues such as: multimodal bottlenecks, regulatory concerns, and other challenges impacting the efficient movement of freight. The freight summits and continuing work between WisDOT and its partners are helping develop an ongoing Freight Mobility Action Agenda that will establish freight-related priorities over the next several years.

Your ideas and suggestions for the next freight reform initiative package are welcomed! Please send any multimodal topic ideas to freightwiquestions@dot.wi.gov.
