Vehicle insurance ($500,000/$500,000/$50,000 minimum coverage)
A driver school shall maintain a vehicle insurance policy in the name of the school, with the minimum insurance coverage specified by department rule.
Minimum insurance coverage is not less than $500,000 because of bodily injury to or death of one person in any once accident, and subject to that limit for one person, to a limit of not less than $500,000 because of bodily injury to or death of two or more persons in any one accident and, if the accident has resulted in injury to or destruction of property, to a limit of not less than $50,000 because of injury to or destruction of property of others in any one accident. Certification of vehicle insurance must be filed with the department. The insurance policy shall require the insurer to notify the department not less than 30 days before the policy expires or is materially changed or cancelled.
The insurance policy must be in the name of the school or state "Doing Business As (DBA)" and the name of the school. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of each covered vehicle must be listed on the certificate of insurance.
