  SafeRide was created under 1999 Wisconsin Act 109 to fund an alternative means of transportation to decrease the crashes, injuries and deaths that occur when intoxicated patrons attempt to drive home from drinking establishments. The following 2003 Wisconsin SafeRide Annual Report was written to fulfill four objectives: (1) to provide an accounting of activity of the taverns involved in the SafeRide program;(2) to identify and describe general characteristics of the program including cost information as it varies throughout the state; (3) to provide an evaluation of the effectiveness of the program in avoiding alcohol-related crashes and the costs associated with these crashes; (4) to identify SafeRide program contacts.
