AASHTO's Center for Environmental Excellence
The Center for Environmental Excellence by AASHTO, developed in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, offers a wide range of products and services to assist transportation agencies in achieving environmental excellence in delivering their transportation programs and projects.

Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE)
Part of the Institute for Transportation Research and Education at North Carolina State University. Conducts extensive research, education and technology transfer. Features a searchable database of environmental research in progress and extensive links.

Converge 
A web site project devoted to the theme of the confluence of transportation and the environment. The project is also a national, multimedia initiative to chronicle the dynamic, evolving relationship between surface transportation and the environment through American history for the purpose of informing and engaging students, citizens, and professionals.

Environmental Justice
Co-sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), this site is dedicated to case studies, best practices, training and resource listings in achieving a goal of developing transportation projects that fit harmoniously within their communities without sacrificing safety or mobility

FHWA Environment
Part of FHWA's Planning, Environment and Realty (HEP) site, this portion contains extensive information, publications, research and training. Includes air quality, environmental justice, traffic noise, NEPA and project development, CMAQ (Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality) and public involvement.

Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ)
This portion of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Web site contains resources for education about controlling air pollution from motor vehicles, engines, and the fuels used to operate them.  They also encourage travel choices that minimize emissions. 

U.S. Department of Energy - Transportation
This portion of DOE's Web site explores advanced transportation technologies that reduce the nation's use of imported oil and improve air quality.  Topics include hydrogen-powered fuel cells, reducing emissions, and other emerging automotive technologies.

Surface Transportation Policy Project (STPP)
The STPP states that its goal "is to ensure that transportation policy and investments help conserve energy, protect environmental and aesthetic quality, strengthen the economy, promote social equity, and make communities more livable."

Transportation Technology R&D Center at Argonne National Laboratory
Includes information on energy and environmental policy analysis, ozone air quality attainment, and on-board sensing systems.
