American Planning Association (APA)
The American Planning Association is a non-profit public interest and research organization representing 30,000 practicing planners, officials, and citizens involved with urban and rural planning issues. The site includes reports from the research department, planning news, legislative and policy information, and a database of Association publications.

Context Sensitive Design (CSD)
CSD is an approach that considers the entire context of a transportation improvement project including scenic, aesthetic, historic and environmental resources, while maintaining safety and mobility. This portion of the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) site includes materials, resources and implementation strategies related to CSD. 

Planning Programs and Smart Growth
This section of the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) site is focused on programs and activities that support smart growth. These include the Transportation and Community and System Preservation Program, Transportation Enhancements Program, context sensitive design, capacity building initiatives, and promotion of improved public involvement.

National Transportation Enhancements Clearinghouse
The National Transportation Enhancements Clearinghouse (NTEC) is an information service sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. It provides professionals, policy makers, and citizens with timely and accurate information necessary to make well-informed decisions about the different community focused activities defined in Transportation Equity Act for the 21st century (TEA-21).

Office of Land Information Services, Wisconsin Department of Administration
Contains Wisconsin's "Smart Growth" legislation including planning statutes, fact sheets, and guides.

Cyburbia
Cyburbia contains a large selective directory of Internet resources relevant to planning, architecture, urbanism, growth and sprawl, and other topics related to the built environment.

Planning, Environment and Realty (HEP)
This site, from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), serves as a resource for environment protection and enhancement, comprehensive intermodal and multi-modal transportation planning, and for fair and prudent acquisition and management of real property.

Smart Growth Network
The mission of the Smart Growth Network is to encourage development that better serves the economic, environmental and social needs of communities. The Network provides a forum for information-sharing, education, tool development and application, and collaboration on smart growth issues.  The site includes an events calendar, online publications, presentations, related news, and activities by states.

1000 Friends of Wisconsin and the Land Use Institute
This Web site educates citizens and policy makers of Wisconsin about the benefits of sound land use planning, policies and decisions and advocates for policies that protect natural landscapes and reduce sprawl.

Wisconsin Historical Society's Smart Growth
The Wisconsin Historical Society is actively participating in smart growth by providing technical assistance to professional planners and general guidance to local government officials and historic preservation organizations.  Their site includes their Smart Growth Initiative.
