Surface Transportation Program - Rural

The Surface Transportation Program - Rural (STP-R) allocates federal funds to complete a variety of improvements to rural highways (primarily county highways).

The objective of the STP-R is to improve federal-aid-eligible highways outside of urban areas. Projects must meet federal and state requirements. Communities are eligible for funding on roads classified as major collector or higher.

As of January 28, 2013, WisDOT is accepting STP-R applications for the 2013-2018 Program Cycle. Applicants are required to review the application instructions and complete an application form for each eligible STP-R project:

As part of the application process, applicants are required to prioritize all proposed projects. An Example of How to Prioritize Projects is provided to assist applicants with the completion of the Project Priority section of the application form. The application deadline is June 28, 2013.
