WIS 44 public information meeting scheduled

Meeting to focus on resurfacing in Markesan

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting to discuss proposed improvements to WIS 44 from just north of School Road to the Grand River bridge in Markesan. Construction is currently scheduled for 2013.

The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 29, in the Community Room of the Markesan City Hall, 150 South Bridge Street from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will follow an open house format. No formal presentations are scheduled. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis. Information regarding the proposed improvements, updated plans and maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be available for review and comment.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Resurfacing existing WIS 44
  • Drainage improvements along Manchester Street and Margaret Street in the city of Markesan
  • Ditch grading near Memorial Cemetery
  • Selected culvert replacements
  • Replacement of all highway signs

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project.

Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at least three working days prior to the meeting.
