Work starting on northbound US 41 from US 45 to Breezewood Lane

March 1, 2012

Second phase of $45 million highway expansion project in Winnebago County

(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region is announcing work is resuming this week on the $45 million reconstruction and expansion of US 41 in Winnebago County between the US 45 and Breezewood Lane interchanges. Stage two construction in 2012 involves the widening of northbound US 41 from two to three lanes on this eight-mile section of highway. Southbound US 41 between the two interchanges was expanded from two to three lanes during stage one construction in 2011.

During the evening of Thursday, March 1, all US 41 traffic on this segment of highway will be shifted to the newly built southbound lanes, so the northbound lanes can be reconstructed. Dual lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction on US 41 during the project. However, lanes widths are restricted to 11 feet and speed limits reduced to 55 mph inside the work zone. Access to and from US 41 at the WIS 76 and Breezewood Lane interchanges is being maintained. Stage two construction is expected to be completed in November 2012.

The contractor for the project is Michels Paving, Brownsville, WI.

All scheduled closures are weather-dependent and subject to change.
