Construction beginning on WIS 100 (Mayfair Road) in Milwaukee County

March 1, 2012

Work will begin early next week on the WIS 100 (Mayfair Road) project from Walnut Road to Burleigh Street, announced the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).

WIS 100 will remain open to traffic during construction with temporary lane shifts and changes in how customers access businesses, driveways and cross streets. Nighttime work zones will be utilized for completing the center lanes, intersections and the US 45 ramp. Access to businesses will be maintained except for short periods to pave driveways. Median openings to residential streets will also remain open whenever possible.

This $6.9 million project will:

  • Repave all lanes of WIS 100 from Walnut Road to Burleigh Street with new asphalt pavement.
  • Extend left turn lane bays and eliminate dangerous median openings along WIS 100.
  • Lower the southbound lanes of WIS 100 under the US 45 overpass to increase clearance for high vehicles.

The contractor, Payne and Dolan, is scheduled to finish work by this fall, weather permitting.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and stay alert in the work zone.
