Construction, lane closures set for I-39/90/94 Wisconsin River bridges
March 2, 2012
Traffic will be reduced to four lanes at the I-39/90/94 bridges at the Wisconsin River in Columbia County starting Saturday (March 3) until Memorial Day weekend. The northbound bridge will be closed for maintenance and resurfacing. Two lanes of traffic in each direction will use the southbound span during construction.
The section of I-39/90/94 north of Madison is one of the busiest stretches of Interstate highway in Wisconsin and used heavily by recreational travelers and the freight industry to reach Wisconsin Dells and points north. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and anticipate delays during peak travel times, particularly northbound on Friday afternoons and southbound on Sunday afternoons.
Motorists are encouraged to dial 511 or visit www.511wi.gov for up-to-the-minute information on highway and travel conditions in Wisconsin.
The two bridges will be open during the summer months. The project will resume with lane restrictions following Labor Day weekend.
