Construction beginning on WIS 33 (Washington Street) in Washington County

March 6, 2012

Work will begin early next week on the WIS 33 (Washington Street) project from the Milwaukee River to Wisconsin Street in West Bend, announced the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).

A construction kick-off meeting will be held for local businesses and residents on Tuesday, March 13, at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the West Bend City Hall. Any interested parties may attend to hear more about the project and construction staging.

This $2.1 million reconstruction project will widen the Milwaukee River Bridge from two to four lanes, as well as the approaches, for improved safety and increased capacity.

WIS 33 will remain open to traffic during construction with one lane open in each direction at all times.

The contractor, Lunda Construction, will finish work by this fall, weather permitting.
