Work zones on US 41 in Brown County warrant 55 mph speed limit

March 9, 2012

(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region is announcing that by Saturday, March 10, the speed limit on all US 41-traffic lanes, from just south of Scheuring Road to WIS 29 in Brown County will be posted at 55 mph.

Due to the start of new construction on US 41 between Orange Lane and Glory Road and the ongoing traffic pattern between Lombardi Avenue and Shawano Avenue, WisDOT has determined a reduction in the speed limit through the entire corridor is appropriate. WisDOT sign crews will begin installing additional 55 mph signs in the northbound lanes Thursday night and in the southbound lanes Friday evening.

While there have not been an unusual number of crashes and traffic has flowed reasonably well throughout the construction area, WisDOT believes this is a necessary next step to maintain a safer driving environment on US 41 in Brown County.
