WIS 33 Improvement project resumes in Ozaukee County
March 12, 2012
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Region in Waukesha is announcing that work will pick up again this week on the two mile reconstruction project that stretches from the Milwaukee River Overflow Bridge to South Tower Drive in Ozaukee County.
Work from the Milwaukee River Overflow Bridge will include new pavement and curb and gutter, intersection improvements at Foster Drive, the addition of a two-way left-turn lane near the village hall, storm sewer upgrades, concreted sidewalks, additional bike provisions, landscaping and lighting.
Work from I-43 to South Tower Drive will include a new four-lane median divided roadway with curb and gutter, three roundabouts, intersection improvements, additional turn lanes, new storm sewer system, concrete sidewalks, bike lane or path provisions, landscaping and lighting.
While the new westbound lanes are being built, traffic will remain on the newly-constructed eastbound lanes, just as it has been through the project’s winter hiatus.
The contractor, Musson Brothers, is scheduled to complete the project by late fall, weather permitting.
