Traffic alert: Becher Street on-ramp to northbound I-43/I-94 to close immediately

After obtaining results from a recent bridge inspection, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has decided to immediately close the Becher Street on-ramp to northbound I-43/I-94 in Milwaukee County.

The inspection shows significant deterioration at two bridge pier locations. Top safety engineers will review this area and surrounding bridges in the next several days to determine next steps.

Traffic detour planning is underway and should be in place by morning rush hour.

Built in 1968, this structure carries about 5,000 vehicles per day. The bridge was last inspected in summer of 2011.
