Governor approves US 53 improvements

March 15, 2012

As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently signed a $10,568,385.29 contract to improve the US 53 and County V interchange between Rice Lake and Spooner in Barron County. Construction is scheduled to begin in May 2012.

Mashuda Contractors Inc. of Princeton is the prime contractor of the project. The intersection will be reconstructed to improve safety.

Construction is scheduled for completion by November 2013, according to Beth Cunningham, project manager for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

There will be lane closures during this project. Cross-overs will be constructed to allow traffic to run one lane in each direction.
