WIS 35/Second Avenue in Onalaska set for reconstruction
March 16, 2012
Work is scheduled to begin Monday (March 19) on the reconstruction of Highway 35/Second Avenue in Onalaska, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The $4.6 million project between Elm and Poplar Street is designed to improve safety and mobility for roadway users including bicyclists and pedestrians. Improvements include new pavement, turn lanes, sidewalks, lighting, signals, and streetscaping.
Access to local businesses will be maintained for the duration of the project. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction. Northbound traffic will be detoured periodically along 4th Avenue beginning March 26.
Motorists are urged to use caution in the work zone.
The project is scheduled to be completed in November. The public is encouraged to continue to patronize local businesses during construction.
The public is encouraged to dial 511 or visit 511 online for up-to-the-minute information on highway and travel conditions in Wisconsin.
