Informational meeting set for Madison Beltline/Fish Hatchery Road improvements
April 9, 2012
Interchange reconstruction schedule to begin July
Planned improvements to the Madison Beltline (US 12/14) interchange with Fish Hatchery Road will be discussed at a public information meeting Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
The meeting will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the City of Madison’s Larry D. Nelson Engineering Operations Facility, 1300 Emil Street, in Madison.
WisDOT will be reconstructing portions of the interchange starting in July.
The improvements include reconstructing the westbound US 12 entrance and exit ramps to remove the northbound Fish Hatchery Road to westbound US 12 loop ramp, and realigning the Frontage Road in the northwest quadrant of the interchange. The Fish Hatchery Road Bridge will be raised to provide adequate clearance over US 12 and will be widened to better accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicular traffic. Fish Hatchery Road will be reconstructed, including minor widening on the west side, from the eastbound US 12 ramp intersection to just north of the Emil/Ann Street. Both eastbound and westbound US 12 travel lanes will be resurfaced under the Fish Hatchery Road Bridge.
Construction is scheduled for July 2012 to September 2013.
The April 17 meeting will be conducted in an open house format with a variety of exhibits and maps available for review. Representatives from WisDOT will be on hand to answer questions throughout the evening. Attendees will have the option of making written or verbal comments during the gathering.
Persons who are unable to attend on April 17 can contribute comments or ask questions about the US 12/Fish Hatchery Road Interchange project by contacting WisDOT Project Manager David Layton at 2101 Wright St. 124L, Madison, WI, 53704; (608) 246-3821; david.layton@dot.wi.gov
