Governor Walker approves Grand Chute Capitol Drive Bridge project
April 13, 2012
Bridge being repainted
(Green Bay) As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently signed an approximately $175,000 contract to repaint the steel members on the Capitol Drive Bridge crossing US 41 in the town of Grand Chute, Outagamie county. The work will begin on Monday, April 23 when the bridge will be closed to traffic. The project is scheduled for completion by Friday, May 25.
General contractor for the project is United Contracting, Inc., Forest Junction, Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region project will extend the life of the bridge.
Because this work involves lane and ramp closures on US 41, most of the work will be done during the evening. Crews will attempt to restrict use of equipment generating higher levels of noise to earlier evening hours. Efforts will also be made to coordinate closures with local Timber Rattler games.
Ramp and lane closures will be announced as the project progresses. Motorists on US 41 are advised to use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
