Governor Walker approves $174,000 project at Lakeland Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $174,000 project to purchase snow removal equipment for the Lakeland Airport – Noble F. Lee Memorial Field in Arbor Vitae.

Eric Johnson, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the equipment includes a bi-directional tractor, loader, box plow, snow blower, rotary broom and plow blade, which will lead to more effective and efficient snow removal operations at the airport.

The equipment is scheduled to be delivered in early fall of 2012, prior to the start of Wisconsin’s winter weather season.

Funding Breakdown

  • State = $4,350
  • Towns of Arbor Vitae, Lac du Flambeau, Minocqua & Woodruff = $4,350
  • Federal Aviation Administration = $165,300

Lakeland Airport – Noble F. Lee Memorial Field has two paved runways. The primary runway is 5,150 feet; the secondary is 3,600 feet. The airport is located three miles northwest of Woodruff in Vilas County.
