Governor Walker approves nearly $116,000 project at Reedsburg Municipal Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $115,918 project for an Automated Weather Observing Station (AWOS) at the Reedsburg Municipal Airport.
Craig Butler, airport project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the AWOS unit will enhance safety for inbound and departing aircraft by providing continuous weather reports.
The Reedsburg Municipal Airport will become home to Wisconsin’s 42nd AWOS. The statewide system is used by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Weather Service to analyze and forecast weather conditions.
The project is scheduled to be completed in October 2012.
Funding Breakdown
- State = $2,898
- City of Reedsburg = $2,898
- Federal Aviation Administration = $110,122
The Reedsburg Municipal Airport has two paved runways. The primary runway is 4,840 feet long, with the second runway measuring 2,510 feet.
