Governor Scott Walker today announced a $350,000 project for design work to build a terminal for international arrivals at Austin Straubel International Airport in Brown County.

Matt Malicki, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the terminal will allow U.S. Customs and Border Protection to operate in a permanent facility, where officers can clear passengers from international destinations.

The design project is expected to begin in April and be completed by November 2012. Construction on the terminal is scheduled for 2013, with additional funding sources.

Funding Breakdown for Design Work

  • State = $175,000

Austin Straubel International Airport is located southwest of the city of Green Bay. It is a primary service air carrier airport, with two concrete runways, 7,700 feet and 8,200 feet in length. The airport has a modern terminal building providing passenger services to the traveling public.
