Public meeting planned to discuss improvements to WIS 13 in Bayfield County and Broad and 2nd streets in the city of Bayfield

April 26, 2012

Meeting to focus on gathering knowledge and noting public concerns

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northwest Region in Superior, in conjunction with the city of Bayfield, is announcing a public information meeting to discuss proposed improvements to sections of two local streets, Broad Street and 2nd Street and a section of WIS 13 in Bayfield County. The meeting is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 10 at the Bayfield Lakeside Pavilion, 2 E. Front Street. The projects are scheduled for the 2013 construction season.

WisDOT has plans to resurface WIS 13 from 7th Avenue to Bresette Road and from Buffalo Bay Spur Station to Old County K. Other improvements include the replacement of several blocks of street lighting in downtown Bayfield and all permanent highway signing.

The city of Bayfield, in conjunction with WisDOT, is developing plans for a proposed project located on Broad Street from Manypenny Avenue to Washington Avenue and South 2nd Street from Manypenny Avenue to Rittenhouse Avenue (WIS 13) in Bayfield County. The project will consist of constructing new base structures, new pavement marking, maintaining drainage and ditch structure, restoring brick pavers and improving curb and gutter work.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning these projects. WisDOT and City representatives will be available to discuss the projects on an individual basis.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information regarding the WIS 13 project, contact Barbara Kerber at (715) 392-7860.
