Governor Walker approves WIS 13 improvements in Park Falls

Construction information meeting scheduled May 9
As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker signed a $8.6 million contract to improve approximately two miles of WIS 13 from the north fork of the Flambeau River bridge to 5th Street North in the city of Park Falls. Construction is currently scheduled to begin the week of May 14.
A construction information meeting to discuss the project is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9 at the Park Falls City Hall, 400 4th Avenue South, from 6 to 7 p.m. The contractor will be available to discuss the project staffing and WisDOT personnel will be on hand to answer questions.
S & N Incorporated is the prime contractor for the project. Improvements include:
- Reconstruction of the existing four-lane roadway to a three-lane roadway. This will include two lanes and a center two-way left turn lane.
- Reconstruction of the existing two-lane roadway.
- Replacement of the roadway pavement, base material, curb and gutter, sidewalks, storm sewer and street lights.
- Reconstruction of the intersection of WIS 13 and WIS 182 to better accommodate turning trucks.
Construction is scheduled for completion by late October 2012.
During construction, WIS 13 will remain open to traffic from County E to the south. The roadway will be closed and detoured to through traffic north of County E to 5th Avenue from July 9 to September 11. Access will be provided for local traffic and emergency vehicles via cross streets.
The project will be paid with a combination of federal, state and local transportation funds.
