Weekend delays expected at I-39/90/94 Wisconsin River bridges

May 3, 2012

Weekend travelers aiming to get an early start to summer — and maybe catch a few fish — should plan ahead for potential delays on I-39/90/94 at the Wisconsin River bridges in Columbia County. Construction work on the bridges is limiting the Interstate to four lanes of traffic.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and anticipate delays during peak travel times, particularly northbound on Friday afternoon and southbound on Sunday afternoon.

The first Saturday in May marks the opening of fishing season is Wisconsin. The section of I-39/90/94 north of Madison is one of the busiest stretches of Interstate highway in Wisconsin and used heavily by recreational travelers and the freight industry to reach Wisconsin Dells and points north. Roads less traveled are suggested for travelers interested in avoiding traffic congestion and seeing more of our great state.

Motorists are encouraged to dial 511 or visit 511 online for up-to-the-minute information on highway and travel conditions in Wisconsin.
