WIS 17 improvements in Vilas County scheduled to begin

May 4, 2012

Crews plan to begin work on six miles of WIS 17 between Vilas County A and the Michigan state line on Monday, May 14.

Northeast Asphalt, Inc. is the prime contractor for the $1.1 million project. Improvements include resurfacing the highway with new asphalt, replacement of three culverts, new signing and beam guards.

During construction, WIS 17 will remain open to traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter single lane closures and flagging operations.

Work is scheduled for completion in late June.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
