Governor Walker approves $125,000 project at Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport
May 9, 2012
Governor Scott Walker today announced a $125,000 project for pavement maintenance at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Rock County.
Michael Gabor, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the project includes cracksealing and a new surface coating on the airport’s general aviation runway. WisDOT uses this approach to significantly delay the high cost of pavement reconstruction.
The project is scheduled to begin in mid-summer and be completed by summer’s end.
Funding Breakdown
- State = $100,000
- Rock County = $25,000
Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport is located three miles southwest of Janesville. It has three paved runways.
