Advice from a 'Driver' who always wears his seat belt

Packers' all-time leading receiver featured in new TV and radio messages urging everyone to buckle up

If you are a Wisconsin motorist who doesn’t buckle up, Green Bay wide-receiver Donald Driver has some powerful advice—and it will indeed "pack a wallop."

To prepare drivers and passengers for the upcoming Click It or Ticket safety belt enforcement mobilization, which officially begins Monday, May 21, Driver is featured in new TV and radio messages that will be broadcast statewide beginning Monday, May 14. The new messages are part of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s (WisDOT) federally funded Zero In Wisconsin traffic safety campaign.

In addition to the TV and radio messages, an interview with Driver and behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the spots—including candid shots with his dancing partner, Peta Murgatroyd—are available online at the Zero In Wisconsin website.

"Wisconsin's safety belt use rate of approximately 79 percent lags well behind the national average of 86 percent. To motivate all drivers and passengers to buckle up, law enforcement agencies from all over Wisconsin will be out in force to crackdown on unbuckled motorists during the annual Click It or Ticket mobilization from May 21 to June 3. The mobilization will be backed by a statewide public education and media campaign," says State Patrol Major Sandra Huxtable, director of the WisDOT Bureau of Transportation Safety. "Law enforcement officers are serious about safety belt enforcement. They know through experience that lives are destroyed, families are devastated, and society suffers substantial economic losses when people are needlessly killed or seriously injured in crashes because they were not wearing a safety belt."
