Public meeting planned for WIS 96 construction in Wrightstown

Work scheduled over next four years
(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing a public information meeting has been scheduled for the WIS 96 road construction and bridge replacement taking place in Wrightstown over the next four years. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 22 at Wrightstown High School, 600 High Street, Wrightstown in the school cafeteria. The meeting will be conducted as an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. with a short presentation at 5:15 p.m.
There will be displays and staff will be available to answer questions.
This meeting will provide information on four construction projects including:
- Resurfacing 2.2 miles of WIS 96 from the east limits of the village of Wrightstown (Shanty Road) to 1,240 feet east of Old 57 Road. No additional right-of-way is anticipated. The resurfacing project begins in August 2012.
- Reconstruction of 0.8 miles of WIS 96 (High Street) from Fair Street to Shanty Road. The approximate length of the project is 0.8 miles. Plans for this project include expanding the existing two-lane urban section with bike and pedestrian accommodations. Additional right-of-way and easements will be required. The reconstruction project is scheduled for 2014.
- Reconstruction of 0.9 miles of WIS 96 (Day Street) from 400 feet west of Lagoon Road to 600 feet east of Breckenridge Falls Boulevard. The proposed roadway profile will be also modified to improve sight distance at the trail crossing east of the roundabout at WIS 32/57. Additional right-of-way and easements will be required. The reconstruction project is scheduled for 2014.
- Construction of a new WIS 96 bridge over the Fox River. Work includes roundabouts at the intersection of WIS 96 and Main Street and on new alignment 100 feet south of WIS 96 and Turner Street. Additional right-of-way and easements will be required. The reconstruction project is scheduled in 2014 through 2016.
The public is encouraged to attend this meeting. Persons with a concern for, or knowledge about, historic buildings and structures, archaeological sites, and general access and property issues are encouraged to attend this meeting or provide comments.
The school is wheelchair accessible. Those who are deaf or hard of hearing and require an interpreter should contact WisDOT Project Manager Natasha Gwidt three working days prior to the meeting at (920) 492-4125. Survey crews
Please note survey crews will be performing temporary staking of the proposed right-of-way and the proposed temporary limited easements for the reconstruction projects listed above. The survey work is scheduled to take place from May 7 through May 22. These crews will be carrying proper identification that they will share upon request.
