Public meeting for US 14/61 study of Viroqua/Westby bypasses in Vernon County
May 16, 2012
A public information meeting will be held Tuesday, May 22, regarding the study and official mapping of the bypasses around Viroqua and Westby. The meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Viroqua High School/Middle School, 100 Blackhawk Drive, Viroqua, WI. A formal presentation will be given at 5:30 p.m.
The meeting will include updated maps that depict the possible right of way that would be preserved and officially mapped as four-lane bypasses. In addition, several concepts for preserving right of way for future interchanges and grade separations have been developed. Some new local road connections are also proposed that would maintain local traffic circulation.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project.
The study consists of preserving and officially mapping right of way for a four-lane bypass of Viroqua and Westby on US 14/61. The Viroqua Bypass study limits extend approximately five miles from Springville Road to existing US 14/61. The Westby Bypass study limits extend approximately 3.6 miles from Sherpe Road to Cut-A-Cross Road. Construction of the bypasses is not included in this study.
