May 16, 2012
Highway being repaved from Amberg to Beecher; Passing lanes being added
(Green Bay) As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently signed an approximately $3.9 million contract to improve approximately 6.5 miles of US 141 from Amberg to Beech in Marinette County. Work is set to begin Monday, May 21 and completed in late August.
General contractor for the project is Northeast Asphalt, Greenville, WI.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region plans to repave the highway, add north and southbound passing lanes, replace culverts and improve intersections.
Access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the project. The highway will remain open, though lane restrictions will be in effect during the day with traffic controlled by flagging during the week. The highway will be open on weekends from noon Fridays until 6 a.m. Mondays. There is the potential for backups and motorists should remain alert and use caution when driving through this or any work zone.
