Governor Walker approves overpass improvements in Stevens Point

May 24, 2012

As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently signed a $702,000 contract to improve three overpasses along I-39 in the Stevens Point area: North Second Street, Wilshire Boulevard and Barbara’s Lane. Construction is scheduled to begin May 21, 2012.

Zenith Tech is the prime contractor for the project. Work includes resurfacing the bridges with concrete pavement and replacing some beam guards.

Construction is scheduled for completion by late August 2012.

During construction Wilshire Boulevard and Barbara’s Lane will be open to one lane of traffic using traffic signals.

The North Second Street bridge over I-39 will be closed to traffic beginning June 4. The bridge is scheduled to reopen in mid-August. No detour will be posted.

Ninety percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 10 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
