Governor Walker approves US 22 improvements in Oconto County
May 25, 2012
Work beginning Monday, June 4
(Green Bay) As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently signed a $7.4 million contract to improve eight miles of WIS 22 between Gillett and Oconto Falls in Oconto County. Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, June 4 and will be completed in mid-November.
Northeast Asphalt, Inc., Greenville is the prime contractor.
The highway is being reconstructed between Gillett and Oconto Falls. Additionally, a single-lane roundabout will be built at the WIS 22/32 intersection.
At the beginning of construction on June 4, WIS 22 from WIS 32 to Oconto Falls will be closed to through traffic and detoured. Going north on WIS 22, the detour will be WIS 32, County E, US 141, and WIS 22. Going south, it is the same route in reverse.
Starting on July 9, WIS 22 will be closed from Gillett to Oconto Falls. This closure will close both WIS 22 and WIS 32 to through traffic and the detour will be modified. Going north on WIS 22, the detour will start at County C in Pulcifer to County E, US 141, and WIS 22. Going south, it is the same route in reverse.
Northbound on WIS 32, the detour will start at County E, County C, WIS 22, and WIS 32 in Gillet. Going south, it is the same route in reverse.
Please note that access will be maintained to local businesses, residences and side road cross traffic throughout the project.
