Public meeting for WIS 80 in Juneau County

May 29, 2012

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region will hold a public information meeting to discuss the design and construction of WIS 80 from WIS 33 in Union Center to WIS 71 in Elroy, and from WIS 82 near Elroy to County B near New Lisbon in Juneau County. The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13 at the Royall High School cafeteria located at 1501 Academy Street in Elroy. The meeting will be an open house format.

The scope of both projects is to mill 2 to 2.5 inches of the existing asphalt pavement and replace it with a new mat of asphaltic pavement. Base aggregate will be added to the shoulders and then regraded. All existing beam guard in the corridor will be removed and replaced with new beam guard that meets current design standards. There may be areas in Elroy where the existing curb and gutter is in disrepair and will be replaced. All work will be done within the existing right-of-way. The roadway will be open to traffic during construction. The roadway will be closed down to one lane of traffic with the use of a flagging operation in the immediate area of construction. During non-working hours the roadway will be open to two lanes of traffic. The project is scheduled to begin construction in April or May of 2013 and take approximately 2.5 months to complete.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the proposed improvement alternatives will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
