Governor Walker approves project at Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $139,427 project to improve pavements at Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport in Wisconsin Rapids.
Michael Gabor, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the project involves the crack filling and seal coating of the airport’s pavements. This routine maintenance by the Bureau of Aeronautics extends the life of existing pavements to avoid costly reconstruction.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of summer.

Alexander Field – South Wood County Airport is owned by the city of Wisconsin Rapids, the town of Grand Rapids and the village of Port Edwards. It has two paved runways. The primary runway is 5,500 feet, while the secondary runway is 3,470 feet.
