Governor Walker approves $65,000 project at Richard I. Bong Airport

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $65,000 project to improve pavements at the Richard I. Bong Airport in Superior.
Eric Johnson, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the project involves the crack filling and seal coating of the airport’s pavements. This routine maintenance by the Bureau of Aeronautics extends the life of existing pavements to avoid costly reconstruction.
The project is scheduled for August.
Funding Breakdown
- State = $1,625
- City of Superior = $1,625
- Federal Aviation Administration = $61,750
Richard I. Bong Airport has two runways, a 5,100 foot paved runway and a 4,000 foot paved crosswind runway.
