UPDATE: Detour correction - Governor Walker approves WIS 49 improvements in Waupaca County

July 3, 2012

WIS 49 will be detoured via US 10, WIS 22/54, WIS 22/110 and WIS 161 during construction

As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently signed a $749,000 contract to replace the bridge on WIS 49 that crosses the south branch of the Little Wolf River in the township of Scandinavia.

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, July 16.

Pheifer Brothers Construction Company is the prime contractor for the project. Crews will remove and replace the existing south branch of the Little Wolf River bridge. The new bridge will be two-feet higher, have six-foot shoulders and the approaches will be repaved.

During construction, WIS 49 will be closed to traffic at the south branch of the Little Wolf River bridge, which is located north of Waupaca and south of Scandinavia. WIS 49 traffic will be detoured via US 10, WIS 22/54, WIS 22/110 and WIS 161. Property owners, that have driveways within the project limits, will have access to their driveways during construction.

Construction is scheduled for completion by late September 2012.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
