Governor Walker approves WIS 55 improvements in Kaukauna
July 6, 2012
Roundabout being built at WIS 55 and County CE
As part of his efforts to create jobs and make sure Wisconsin is open for business, Governor Scott Walker recently signed an approximately $1.4 million contract to build a multi-lane roundabout at the intersection of WIS 55 and County CE in the city of Kaukauna beginning Tuesday, July 10. The project is scheduled for completion in October.
The general contractor for the roundabout project is LaLonde Contractors, Inc., Milwaukee, WI.
This project will replace the current signalized intersection with a multi-lane roundabout. This upgrade will improve safety and accommodate future traffic volumes as the area continues to grow and develop. It will also improve bicycle and pedestrian accommodations at this intersection.
Access will be maintained to all businesses and homes during construction. WIS 55 will remain open, though reduced to one lane in each direction. County CE will initially be closed at the east end. As construction progresses, the east end will reopen and the west end will close.
During the entire length of the project, the detour for County CE will be County N, County KK, County GG and back to County CE. Please note the County CE bicycle and pedestrian trail is being closed at this location during the project. A trail detour will be signed.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and use caution and remain alert when driving through this or any work zone.
