Governor Walker approves more than $96,000 project at Manitowish Waters Airport

Governor Scott Walker approved a $96,524 project for pavement reconstruction at the Manitowish Waters Airport in Vilas County.
Craig Butler, airport project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the project will replace a paved ramp at the airport. The reconstruction will reduce the annual maintenance cost and provide a safer area for aircraft.
Funding Breakdown
- State = $2,412
- Town of Manitowish Waters = $2,414
- Federal Aviation Administration = $91,698
Manitowish Waters Airport has two runways. Its paved runway is 3,500 feet, while its turf runway is 3,300 feet.
