Governor Walker approves more than $585,000 project at Adams County Legion Field

Governor Scott Walker today announced a $585,661 project to reconstruct a portion of the primary runway at Adams County Legion Field.

Stacey Miller, airport engineering specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said the project will replace the south end of the runway. The existing pavement will be crushed and reused as the base for the new pavement overlay.

The project is expected to begin in late July and be completed by October 2012. The runway will be closed during construction.

Funding Breakdown

  • State = $18,808
  • Adams County = $18,809
  • Federal Aviation Administration = $548,044

Adams County Legion Field is located about one mile east of the villages of Adams and Friendship. It has one paved runway, 3,400 feet in length, and one turf strip, 3,300 feet in length.
