Public meeting for US 51 (Stoughton Road) Corridor Study, Dane County

August 8, 2012

Public invited to comment on possible corridor alternatives

A public information meeting will occur on Tuesday, August 14, to discuss planning efforts for the US 51 (Stoughton Road) Corridor Study from Terminal Drive/Voges Road, in the village of McFarland, to WIS 19, near the village of DeForest, in Dane County. The meeting will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Robert M. Lafollette High School, 702 Pflaum Road, Madison, WI 53716. A formal presentation is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The purpose of the study is to develop long-term improvements to address safety, congestion, and bicycle and pedestrian issues along the corridor and determine the associated impacts. At the completion of the study, a preferred alternative for the corridor will be selected along with an approved Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions regarding this project. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the study on an individual basis. Maps showing the three current improvement alternatives will be on display. Interested citizens who attend the meeting will have an opportunity to review the displays and provide comments to the study team.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, or would like more information, contact Jeff Berens at (608) 245-2656. Written comments regarding the project can be mailed to Jeff Berens, WisDOT Project Manager, 2101 Wright Street, Madison, WI 53704. Citizens who are hearing-impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Jeff Berens at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (dial 711).
