Roundabout planned for US 45/County K in the town of Empire put on hold

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing the proposed reconstruction of US 45 and County K intersection in the town of Empire in Fond du Lac County will not be built in 2015. WisDOT originally planned to upgrade the intersection based on safety concerns.

WisDOT Region Director Will Dorsey said, "The department received considerable input from the public at our July 25 public meeting at Theisen Middle School that we have taken into consideration. While we have identified crash issues at this intersection, we also realize that travel patterns may change with the planned interchange at County V and the frontage road system between US 45 and County V. With this in mind, we plan to continue to monitor the safety of this intersection, but will not be moving forward with any improvements, including a roundabout, at this time."
