Claude Allouez roundabout upgrade starting next week

August 16, 2012

Changes coming to the De Pere roundabout beginning August 20

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region in Green Bay is announcing changes to the roundabout at the eastern end of the Claude Allouez Bridge in De Pere. The roundabout is being reconfigured with new lane markings and signs to further improve safety and mobility through the roundabout, easing traffic flow. Drivers need to be aware that their lane choices will be changing.

The work is being done on five consecutive nights from Monday, August 20 through Friday, August 24 from 8 pm. to 5 a.m. The roundabout will continue to be open to traffic, though there will be lane closures during this time.

WisDOT will also incorporate message boards to alert motorists when segments of the roundabout have been changed.

The Claude Allouez bridge roundabout was the first multi-lane roundabout in northeast Wisconsin, providing safety and mobility at this new intersection. With the new configuration, WisDOT anticipates the number of minor crashes should decline.
