Traffic lights installed at US 53/I-535 in Superior

August 24, 2012

Motorists travelling south on I-535 will encounter traffic signals now at the intersection with US 53 in Superior.

Current traffic is the same as it has been for several weeks with northbound I-535 closed and southbound open. The signals are flashing red for the southbound US 53 traffic.

On Monday morning, northbound I-535 will open to traffic and northbound US 53 will no longer be detoured. The new signal will continue in flash mode with US 53 southbound flashing red and US 53 northbound flashing yellow until motorists become used to the new signal. It is anticipated the signal will go into normal operation later in the week.

This situation will continue until the MnDOT Blatnik bridge work is complete in October. The WisDOT paving project is expected to be complete in October also.
